The Trans-Caledon Tunnel Authority (TCTA) is a South African state-owned company responsible for developing, constructing, operating, and maintaining large water infrastructure projects in the country.
TCTA is committed to transformation and nation-building through various initiatives, including the TCTA Bursary Programme.
TCTA Bursary South Africa 2025
This bursary program aims to financially support deserving South African students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds who wish to pursue undergraduate degrees in specific fields aligned with the TCTA’s mission.
Key Details about the TCTA Bursary
- Target Audience: South African students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds
- Level of Study: Undergraduate degrees
- Fields of Study: Auditing (Degree or BTech), Environmental Science / Environmental Management, Environmental Law (BSc or BTech), Financial Management / Treasury & Investment, Economics (Bachelor of Commerce)
- Application closing date: 31 January 2025.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the TCTA Bursary Programme, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Be under 35 years old.
- Be currently enrolled in Matric (2024) or have already completed Matric with university entrance.
- Have a minimum of 60% for English, Science, and Mathematics in Matric. A minimum of 65% in all major subjects is required if you are already studying.
- I am pursuing a full-time undergraduate degree in one of the listed fields of study.
- Be studying at or be accepted to study at a recognized and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa.
- A total household income of less than R350,000 per annum (before tax).
- I will not be receiving any other bursary or sponsorship funding.
- Not be a child or close relative of a TCTA employee.
Value of the Bursary
The TCTA bursary is a financial aid package that covers the following expenses:
- Registration fees
- Tuition fees
- Prescribed books
- Learning tools
- Accommodation and meals
- Monthly allowance for living expenses
The bursary amount is determined based on the individual student’s financial needs and budget availability.
How to Apply
Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to apply for the TCTA Bursary Programme.
The application process is as follows:
- Download the application form from the TCTA bursaries portal.
- Complete the application form accurately.
- Get the required supporting documents, which may include the following:
- Certified copy of your South African ID document
- Full academic record (including Matric certificate and university transcripts if applicable)5
- Proof of family income (e.g., payslips, tax certificates)
- Letter of acceptance from a recognized and accredited tertiary institution (if applicable)
- Submit your completed application form and all supporting documents via email to bursaries@tcta.co.za.

Application Deadline
The deadline to submit applications for the TCTA Bursary Programme for the 2025 academic year is January 31, 2025. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.
