The PPS Foundation is dedicated to improving access to tertiary education, particularly in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields.
This initiative also nurtures the talent of South Africa’s youth, addressing the country’s need for skills in critical sectors.
Since its start, the foundation has funded over 105 students, providing them with the means to pursue higher education and excel academically.
PPS Foundation 2025
The PPS Foundation operates under the umbrella of PPS, a trusted financial services provider specializing in investment, healthcare, and insurance solutions exclusively for graduate professionals.
As the only mutual financial services company in South Africa catering specifically to graduates, PPS embodies a commitment to fostering excellence and professional growth.
The foundation’s bursary program is designed to support students pursuing degrees in STEM and Humanities fields, which are pivotal to the nation’s development.
The programme targets academically deserving and financially needy students, offering comprehensive funding and additional resources to ease their learning journey.
Key Details of the PPS Foundation Bursary
The bursary is available to students pursuing degree studies in the following areas:
- STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) fields
- Humanities
Recipients can receive funding from their first year of study through to Honours level.
The bursary covers:
- Tuition fees
- Prescribed textbooks
- Meals
- Accommodation at university residences
First-year bursary recipients are also required to participate in on-campus support sessions facilitated by the foundation.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African citizen
- Currently be in Matric or have completed Matric
- Be enrolled or planning to enroll full-time at a recognized public tertiary institution in South Africa (University or University of Technology)
- Have a household income not exceeding R1 million per annum
- Achieve a minimum overall average of 65%
Preference is given to:
- Students pursuing STEM degrees
- Previously disadvantaged and financially deserving Black candidates (African, Coloured, Indian)
How to Apply
Applications for the 2025 academic year must be submitted online.
Follow these steps to apply:
- Visit the PPS Foundation’s online application portal.
- Complete the application form, ensuring all details are accurate.
- Upload the following supporting documents:
- Certified copy of your ID (not older than 3 months)
- Matric certificate or statement of results (if certificate is not yet available)
- Full academic record to date, including recent transcripts (on institution’s letterhead)
- Proof of registration for the current academic year (on institution’s letterhead)
- Financial statement from the university’s student finance department
- Proforma invoices for prescribed textbooks
- Lease agreements (if living in private accommodation)
- Proof of parents’ or guardians’ household income (latest payslips, affidavits, or proof of grant/pension)
