As the 2024 Matric exam results release approaches, learners across South Africa are preparing to receive their marks.
For those who believe their results do not reflect their performance, the Department of Basic Education has announced the opening of applications for Matric exam re-marks and re-checks.
A total of 732,448 full-time candidates registered for the 2024 National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams, an increase of 8,400 candidates compared to 2023.
Additionally, 136,195 part-time candidates participated in the examinations.
Minister of Basic Education Siviwe Gwarube will officially announce the 2024 Matric exam results on Monday, 13 January 2025, making results available to learners the following day.
Learners wishing to contest their results can apply for a re-mark or re-check their exam papers starting from 14 January 2025, with the application window closing on 25 January 2025.
Application Process for Re-mark and Re-check
Applying for a re-mark or re-check is straightforward and can be completed online via the government’s official e-Services Portal. Below are the steps to follow:
- Visit the Official e-Services Portal: Navigate to the Portal to begin your application.
- Access the Education Section: Click on the education icon (a graduation cap) and select the Basic Education option.
- Choose Re-Mark/Re-check: From the options provided, select the appropriate service.
- Complete the Online Application: Fill in all the required fields with accurate information. Double-check all details for correctness.
- Accept Terms and Conditions: Confirm your agreement by ticking the designated box.
- Payment Process: Before applying, make the required payment for the re-mark or re-check using your exam number as the reference. Ensure that proof of payment is submitted if required.
