Gold One Group Limited is a known mining organization with gold operations and prospects across Southern Africa.

The company’s flagship project, Gold One Modder East Operations, is located in Springs within the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, approximately 30km from Johannesburg.

Established in 2009, Modder East stands out as a uniquely shallow gold mine, with depths ranging between 300 and 500 meters below the surface.

Gold One Bursary 2025

Gold One Modder East Operations invites applications for their 2025 bursary programme from students residing within the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (Gauteng).

Bursaries are available for full-time undergraduate studies in the following fields:

  • Finance
  • Geological and Earth Sciences
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Metallurgical Science
  • Mining Engineering

What the Bursary Covers

The Gold One Bursary provides funding for:

  • Tuition fees
  • Examination fees
  • Prescribed textbooks
  • University-administered accommodation (for full-time students only)

Note: The following costs will not be covered and must be borne by the student:

  • Private accommodation
  • Laptops and data
  • Short courses
  • Meals and transport
  • Monthly stipends or living expenses

Successful candidates will be required to sign a bursary contract with Gold One.

Eligibility Criteria For Gold One Bursary

Applicants must meet the following requirements to qualify:

  1. Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen.
  2. Residency: Must reside within Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality’s designated municipal wards (Gauteng province).
  3. Education:
    • Be in Matric in 2024 or have completed Matric.
    • Be studying or registered for a qualification in one of the fields listed above for 2025.
    • Be enrolled at a recognized and accredited South African tertiary institution.
  4. Academic Performance:
    • Achieve a minimum overall average of 60% in Matric June results (if currently in Matric).
    • Maintain at least 60% in all major subjects if currently in tertiary studies.
  5. Financial Need: Must demonstrate financial need.
  6. Preference: Priority is given to students residing within mine-hosting communities, including Springs, Benoni, Brakpan, Nigel, and the townships of these areas.

Documents Needed For Gold One Bursary Application

Applicants must upload clear copies of the following certified documents with their application:

  1. Certified copy of ID document.
  2. Proof of tertiary registration.
  3. Formal quotations for all study-related expenses.
  4. Proof of parents’ or guardians’ household income (latest payslips, affidavit for unemployment, proof of pension or grant, if applicable).
  5. Proof of residence.

Important:

  • All documents must be certified by SAPS.
  • Submit all supporting documents in PDF format.
