Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements to qualify:

  1. Be a South African citizen
  2. Hold a completed Matric certificate
  3. Be enrolled in full-time undergraduate or postgraduate studies at a recognized South African institution
  4. Maintain a minimum overall average of 65% from the first year of tertiary education onwards
  5. Be willing to relocate to the Western Cape (Bellville/Stellenbosch) or Gauteng (Sandton/Johannesburg)
  6. Have a clear credit and criminal record
  7. Demonstrate ambition, problem-solving skills, and a growth mindset

How to Apply for the Capitec Bursary

Applications for the Capitec Bursary must be submitted online. 

Follow these steps to complete your application:

  1. Visit the official Capitec Bursary page.
  2. Create an account or log in to the Leap.ly application platform.
  3. Complete the online application form with accurate personal and academic details.
  4. Upload the required documents, including:
    • Certified copy of your ID
    • Certified copy of your Matric certificate
    • Academic transcripts
    • Proof of enrollment at a recognized institution
    • A motivational letter explaining why you deserve the bursary
  5. Enter “www.bursariesmzansi.co.za” in the field asking how you heard about the bursary.

Deadline

The applications closing date for the 2025 academic year was on 15 August 2024. 

No new dates have been provided yet.

Applications received after this deadline will not be considered, so early submission is strongly encouraged.
