The Department of Basic Education has announced that the Matric Results for the Class of 2024 will be available to the public on January 14, 2025.
Matriculants and their families can now prepare to access these results needed for applications to tertiary education institutions, job opportunities, or other post-school pathways.
How to Access Your Matric Results
Students can access their results using one of the following methods:
- In Person
- Collect your official statement of results from the school or exam center where you wrote your exams. Results will be available starting at 08:00 on January 14, 2025.
- Online
- Visit the Department of Basic Education website from 06:00 on the release date. Use your exam number to log in and view your results.
- Via Mobile
- SMS: Send your exam number to 35658. Follow the instructions in the response to access your results. SMSes are charged R1.50 each, and free SMS bundles are not applicable.
- USSD: Dial 12035658# on your mobile phone. Follow the prompts to register and view your results. USSD charges are 50c per 20 seconds, and free airtime cannot be used.
Please note: The USSD option is only for National Senior Certificate (NSC), not Independent Examinations Board (IEB) results.
Once you have your results and Matric certificate, you can take the following steps:
- Apply for bursaries: Many institutions allow applications while you’re still awaiting results.
- Apply for jobs or learnerships: Include a certified copy of your certificate in your CV package.
Re-mark or Re-check Applications
Students can request a re-mark or re-check of their exam scripts if they are unsatisfied with their results. Here’s how:
- Register at your school, district office, or online via the Department of Basic Education website.
- Submit applications by January 31, 2025.
- Fees:
- R116 per subject for a re-mark.
- R29 per subject for a re-check.
Instructions are also available on the back of your statement of results.
Correcting Errors in Results
If you spot errors such as incorrect names or ID numbers on your statement of results, report them to the Department of Basic Education. Corrections must be submitted by February 21, 2025.
