If you are a student in South Africa looking for financial assistance for your studies in technology-related fields, the BBD Bursary & Beyond Programme is a great opportunity.
BBD Bursary For 2025
The BBD bursary does more than just cover your tuition fees; it also provides mentorship, practical experience, and a pathway into the industry after graduation.
Study Fields Covered by the Bursary
BBD offers bursaries to students pursuing a BSc, BEng, BCom, or BIS degree at the Bachelor’s, Honours, Master’s, or Doctorate level.
The bursary covers the following fields:
- Computer and Software Engineering
- Computer Science
- Game Design
- Informatics
- Information Technology
Bursary Coverage
The BBD Bursary covers essential study costs, ensuring that students can focus on their education without financial stress. It provides:
- Full coverage of university tuition fees
- A monthly allowance for living expenses and other needs
- Mentorship and academic support throughout the study period
Funding Duration and Renewal
The bursary is available for the full duration of your studies, provided you maintain good academic performance.
Each year, students must participate in a one-week on-site workshop called the “Vac Week.”
This event helps students gain hands-on experience by working on projects using the latest technology.
It is also an opportunity to meet other bursary recipients and learn about BBD’s work culture.
After completing their studies, students will transition into the BBD Graduate Programme, where they will start working on real projects as part of professional teams.
