About TCTA (Trans-Caledon Tunnel Authority)
The Trans-Caledon Tunnel Authority (TCTA) is a state-owned organization based in Centurion, South Africa.
TCTA plays a key role in bulk water supply development, focusing on ensuring water security across the region.
Their work involves the planning, financing, and implementing of raw water infrastructure projects. TCTA aims to lead in sustainable water provision and the advancement of regional water resources.
Founded to execute the Lesotho Highlands Water Project, TCTA has since expanded its services, including project design, management, treasury and debt management, and the development of major water infrastructure projects.
Some of their flagship projects include the Lesotho Highlands Water Project, the Vaal River Eastern Subsystem, and the Berg Water Project in Franschhoek.
TCTA Bursary Programme 2025: Key Details
The bursary is aimed at individuals pursuing undergraduate degrees in the following fields:
- Auditing (Degree or BTech)
- Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Law (BSc or BTech)
- Financial Management, Treasury & Investment, Economics (Bachelor of Commerce)
Bursary Coverage and Benefits
The TCTA bursary will cover all academic-related expenses, including:
- Registration fees
- Tuition fees
- Prescribed books and learning tools
- Accommodation and meals
- A monthly allowance for living expenses
Selection Process
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview during the selection process.
Eligibility Criteria for the TCTA Bursary
Applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered for the TCTA Bursary:
- South African citizen
- Under 35 years old
- Currently in Matric (2024) or completed Matric with university entrance
- A minimum of 60% in English, Science, and Mathematics in Matric
- Enrolled or planning to enroll full-time in one of the specified undergraduate degrees
- Studying or accepted to study at a recognized tertiary institution in South Africa
- Achieved a minimum of 65% in major subjects if already studying
- From a previously disadvantaged background
- Household income of less than R350,000 per annum (before tax)
- Not currently receiving any other bursary or sponsorship
- Not a child or close relative of a TCTA employee
How to Apply for the TCTA Bursary
To apply for the TCTA bursary, follow these steps:
- Complete the TCTA Bursary Application Form for 2025.
- Submit your completed application form and your academic record via email to bursaries@tcta.co.za. Please include “TCTA Bursary 2025” in the email subject line.
- Additionally, shortlisted candidates may be asked to provide further supporting documents such as certified copies of their ID, matric certificate, proof of university registration, and proof of household income.
Closing Date for Applications
The deadline to apply for the TCTA Bursary is 31 January 2025. Late applications will not be accepted, so submit all documents before closing.
