The Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality is offering bursaries to support academically talented students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
This initiative aims to promote higher education opportunities for residents of the Makhuduthamaga region. Bursaries are available for undergraduate studies in a range of fields.
Study Fields Covered by the Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality Bursary
Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality bursaries are available for students pursuing undergraduate qualifications in the following fields:
- Accounting
- Chemical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Economics
- Environmental Science
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mining Engineering
- Regional and Town Planning
- Waste Management
A total budget of R3 million has been allocated to fund these bursaries, with priority given to students from financially disadvantaged households.
Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality Bursary Coverage
The bursary will cover the following expenses:
- Registration fees
- Tuition fees
- Study materials
- Accommodation
- Meals
Additionally, students who are awarded the bursary will receive comprehensive support to ensure they can focus on their academic and professional development.
Bursary Selection Criteria
Candidates for the Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality Bursary Programme will be selected based on two main criteria:
- Academic Excellence: A strong academic performance is required.
- Financial Need: Preference is given to students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.

Who Can Apply For Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality Bursary?
To qualify for the Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality Bursary Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African citizen.
- It resides within the Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality area in Limpopo.
- Be in Matric or have already completed Matric.
- Be enrolled or plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate studies within one of the eligible fields.
- Have been accepted or provisionally accepted by a registered and accredited South African tertiary institution.
- Have a strong academic record.
- Demonstrate financial need.
How to Apply for Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality Bursary
To apply, follow these steps:
- Download and complete the Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality Bursary Application Form 2025 (PDF format).
- Alternatively, you can collect application forms from the following locations:

- Education Circuit Offices within Makhuduthamaga
- Complete the application and submit clear certified copies of the following documents:
- ID document
- Matric certificate or latest progress report
- Proof of acceptance/provisional acceptance at a tertiary institution (on institutional letterhead)
- Parents’ or guardians’ ID documents
- Parents’ or guardians’ proof of income (latest payslips, employer letter, affidavit, financial statements)
