The Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA) invites South African students to apply for the Thapelo Madibeng Bursary for the 2025 academic year.
CETA Thapelo Madibeng Bursary 2025
Established in 2000, CETA focuses on developing skills and training initiatives within the construction industry.
Accredited as an Education and Training Quality Assurance (ETQA) body, CETA supports skills development in four key sub-sectors: Materials Manufacturing, Built Environment Professions, Building Construction, and Roads and Civil Construction.
The bursary was renamed to honor the late Mr. Thapelo Madibeng, a core business executive who passed away in August 2018.
Study Fields Covered by the Thapelo Madibeng Bursary
CETA awards bursaries to students pursuing studies within the built environment field at undergraduate and postgraduate levels (including Masters and PhD). Preferred study fields include:
- Architecture (National Diploma / BSc to PhD)
- Building Arts (BA)
- Building Construction (N4 to N6)
- Civil Engineering (BSc to PhD)
- Climate Change Science (All levels to PhD)
- Construction BIM (All levels to PhD)
- Construction Economics (BSc to PhD)
- Construction Management (BSc to PhD)
- Construction Studies (BSc to PhD)
- Electrical Engineering (N4 to N6)
- Environmental Management (All levels to PhD)
- Geomatics (BSc to PhD)
- Property Development (BSc)
- Quantity Surveying (BSc to PhD)
- Real Estate (National Diploma)
- Urban and Regional Planning (BSc to PhD)
- Other construction-related fields
Note: Applications from other construction-related disciplines will also be considered.
CETA Bursary Coverage
The Thapelo Madibeng Bursary provides comprehensive financial support, including:
- Tuition fees
- Prescribed textbooks
- Accommodation and meals
- Transport fees (subject to conditions)
- Research allowance for Masters and PhD students
Eligibility Requirements For CETA Thapelo Madibeng Bursary
Applicants must meet the following criteria to qualify:
- Be a South African citizen.
- I am currently unemployed.
- Be in Matric or have completed Matric.
- Be pursuing or intending to pursue a qualification in the built environment field (undergraduate or postgraduate).
- Be registered or accepted to study at a recognized South African public institution (University, University of Technology, or TVET College).
- Achieve a minimum overall average of 50%.
- Have a household income of less than R800,000 per annum.
How To Apply
To apply for the Thapelo Madibeng Bursary:
- Submit Online: Complete your application at the CETA Thapelo Madibeng Bursary Application 2025.
- Email Submission: Send the required documents in a single PDF file to tm.bursary@ceta.co.za.
- Use your South African ID number as the subject line of the email.
Required Documents:
- Certified copy of your ID document.
- Latest Matric results (if currently in Matric) or Matric certificate (if completed).
- Full tertiary academic record, including the latest results (if applicable).
- Proof of acceptance to a tertiary institution (on official letterhead).
- Quotation of student fees (if available).
- Certified copies of parents’ or guardians’ ID documents or death certificates.
- Parents’ or guardians’ proof of income (latest 3 months’ payslips or affidavit if unemployed).
- Proof of residence (e.g., municipal account, account statement, or letter from a tribal authority or councilor).
- Copy of SASSA card (front and back) or proof of grant, if applicable.
- Details of other funding received, such as NSFAS or other SETA bursaries.
- Medical certificate (if disabled).
Closing Date For Applications
The closing date for the Thapelo Madibeng Bursary is 20 January 2025 (17:00).
