The eThekwini Municipality bursary program provides financial support to deserving students pursuing undergraduate studies in key fields.
This initiative aims to develop skilled professionals who can contribute to the growth of eThekwini and its surrounding areas.
The bursary supports students studying at accredited public tertiary institutions across South Africa.
Study Fields Covered by the eThekwini Municipality Bursary
Bursaries are available for undergraduate studies in the following fields:
- Architecture
- Chemical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Electronic Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Property Valuation
- Quantity Surveying
eThekwini Municipality Bursary Coverage
The bursary covers the following expenses:
- Tuition fees
- Accommodation
- Examination fees
- Book allowance
- A once-off computer allowance (provided in the second year of study, subject to compliance with the agreement)
Additionally:
- Shortlisted candidates will be contacted within three months after the application deadline. If you do not receive feedback, consider your application unsuccessful.
- Applicants will undergo an assessment as part of the selection process.
Funding Duration and Renewal
- The bursary provides funding for one academic year at a time.
- Recipients must maintain good academic performance to qualify for renewal.
Who Can Apply for the eThekwini Municipality Bursary?
To qualify for the eThekwini Municipality Bursary, you must:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Have completed Matric with strong academic results.
- I am studying or planning to study full-time toward an undergraduate qualification in one of the listed fields in 2025.
- Be enrolled or accepted at a recognized and accredited public tertiary institution in South Africa.
- Preferably, have completed at least one year of study at the tertiary level.
- Be from an underrepresented group (based on race, gender, or disability).
- Applicants with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
